Empowering Women Farmers: How F’Dlite is Transforming Rural Livelihoods Through Lakshmi Centers

In rural India, women are the backbone of dairy farming. From caring for livestock to milking and maintaining daily farm routines, much of the dairy ecosystem runs on their effort and dedication. Yet, for many women farmers, access to fair markets and transparent income opportunities remains limited.

At F’Dlite, we believe that a truly sustainable supply chain must also empower the communities that make it possible. With this philosophy, we launched Lakshmi Centers  a grassroots initiative designed to support women dairy farmers by creating a transparent and reliable milk sourcing network.

Today, this initiative has already empowered more than 2,500 women farmers across 90 villages, helping them build stable income opportunities and greater financial independence.

The Challenge Women Dairy Farmers Face

Across many villages, women perform the majority of dairy-related work. However, the income from milk often flows through several intermediaries before reaching the market. This traditional structure creates several challenges:

  • Unfair or inconsistent milk pricing

  • Delayed payments

  • Limited transparency in transactions

  • Little direct financial control for women farmers

As a result, despite doing most of the work, many women farmers do not receive the full value of their contribution.

The Lakshmi Center Model

To solve this problem, F’Dlite established Lakshmi Centers  community-based milk collection hubs designed to connect women farmers directly with the organized dairy supply chain.

These centers function as local sourcing points where women can bring their milk daily. The process is simple, transparent, and designed to support farmers at the grassroots level.

Lakshmi Centers ensure:

  • Reliable daily milk procurement

  • Fair and transparent pricing

  • Direct participation of women farmers in the supply chain

  • Reduced dependence on middlemen

By creating a direct connection between farmers and the F’Dlite sourcing network, the system ensures that the value generated from milk goes back to the women producing it.

Direct Payments for Financial Independence

One of the most powerful aspects of the Lakshmi Center initiative is direct payment to women farmers.

Instead of routing payments through intermediaries or middlemen, F’Dlite transfers money directly into the farmers’ bank accounts. This ensures:

  • Complete transparency in payments

  • Timely and reliable income

  • Financial independence for women

  • Greater trust in the supply chain

For many women farmers, receiving payments directly into their own bank accounts is a transformative experience. It gives them greater financial control and recognition for their contribution to the household economy.

Impact Across 90 Villages

Through the Lakshmi Center network, F’Dlite has already created meaningful impact in rural communities:

  • 2,500+ women farmers supported

  • Milk sourcing across 90 villages

  • Reliable and transparent procurement systems

  • Direct bank transfers empowering women financially

Beyond income, the initiative also builds confidence among women farmers, enabling them to participate more actively in local economic activities.

Building a Sustainable Farm-to-Consumer Ecosystem

The Lakshmi Centers are not just procurement hubs they are the foundation of a sustainable and responsible dairy supply chain.

By working directly with women farmers, F’Dlite ensures:

  • Better traceability in milk sourcing

  • Stronger community relationships

  • Consistent quality standards

  • A supply chain that benefits both farmers and consumers

This model allows F’Dlite to deliver high-quality dairy products while supporting the livelihoods of rural women.

A Future Built on Empowerment

Empowering 2,500 women farmers across 90 villages is an important milestone, but the journey has only begun.

F’Dlite remains committed to expanding the Lakshmi Center network and creating more opportunities for women farmers to participate directly in the dairy economy.

Because when women farmers thrive, entire communities grow stronger.

And at F’Dlite, every step of our sourcing journey is built on that belief.
